Guys and girls..

Mimi’s daughter’s big day is around the corner. The following is the directiosn you can take..

From Gopeng Toll:

1) Exit toll and take a right turn in the direction of Ipoh town till you cross the kawasan industrian Gopeng
2) After that you will passa bridge and arrive at a left turn that leads to Batu Gajah
3) You will not miss the bride’s home on the left oppposite the Taman Herba.

Route B: From Simpang Pulai Toll:

1) Exit toll and left turn in the direction of Kampar .
2) Head straight , passing a bridge ( by bridge i do not mean the Putra jaya type )
3) After passing Taman Mesra Raya on your right hand side take a right turn at the junction leading to Batu Gajah.
4) Find Taman Herba on your left hand side and you will find the bride’s home.

If we can all meet up at Mimi’s home it could be fun .Some of us are planning to be there at 1.00 pm .Some of us will be bringing our spouses and children too.

Hope the matters clouding Mimi’s predicament will clear in time for the wedding .. all for the better ..

Faith will carry us through whatever trouble waters… even if it deems not in our way our faith did not fail us…
All taken in good stride….

Best Regards always.

Dear all,

Thru Valaidam, it has come to my knowledge that one of our dear friends could do with some moral support right now.. Puteri Mimi, mother is now in IJN admitted after complaint for chest pains..
chest pains . We all know Mimi is very dedicated and caring person. Despite her cheerful charisma, she has to juggle with her work at the school and her family, she has to cater for her ailing father and now her mother. To top it up, she has to prepare for her dear daughter’s wedding in two weeks.
Before you all pick up your phones to call her, please take time in your own way to pray for her parents well being as I think at this time too many calls will be too taxing on her.. Off course i am not asking you to NOT call her , just give the lass some emotional room. She is very close to her family and she just needs moral support… A nice sms will make the difference….
I certainly hope both the parents will recover well speedily. Mimi , we want you to know that all your friends and classmates wish the same too.. Call us if there is anything we can do since you have to shuttle between your family in Ipoh and your parents in KL.. But if you or J is driving , please be cautious and carefull ..

One of our very close friend Noradiah is helping her out in admitting and taking care of the mother in IJN. Thanks Nor for the kindness… Keep us posted if any help needed from all of us.. You can call me if need arises to use the blog posting – 019 6631808

Be well and be happy always….

Regards

Barry
PS : I have accidentally ( believe it or not ) deleted one of the postings and together with it all the attached comments with the posting. It was the posting with the pictures of my car accident.. My apologies for that mistake..

First and foremost .
I am very happy to hear the roar of the blog again after the reunion. Been a while since we saw this level of activity.
Have been out for a while which has nothing to do with the accident nor my golf outings.. Anyway glad to be back .. and very glad to know you guys are well.

For your information , I am well and unscathed and all are intact. was a bit of a harrowing experience although it was not a serious accident .. the car swirl on a wet oily road did a 720degrees spin in the center of the road and came to a halt in the first two lanes of the highway after hitting on the fender on the front left lights and back side. Started the car immediately after the spinning stopped to get out of the way of the on coming cars. Lucky there were not any cars or trucks behind me. However, I took off out from the scene like 5 secs after the car stopped spinning .

I guess none is as interested to know what happened to the car but more of who or what I was concentrating on… Glad you guys are having fun at this guessing game… keep guessing if it pleases you .. may be fun too.. Not going to do a poll who thinks there is one , two or a full load of interesting things in the car or not.

Just got back … so will not comment too much … I am not the fake barry. for yoru information..

Enjoy your weekend ..

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! WHAT A WONDERFUL TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE ie. Our Beloved School. It’s like entering a time machine, looking at where I used to sit, how I dissected the crockcroach, frog etc, the bench where we used to make H2S bomb with the help of the chemistry lab assistant, how we used to hang around in school waiting for the boys to make a move (ha.ha..ha) etc. So many old memories started to flood my mind and no true words to describe my real feelings because is so mixed up but one thing for sure, I am very, very happy that I made this trip. I guess Tasan and the rest can see I was beaming from ear to ear.

I was feeling kind of odd while driving down with my son (started at 630am) because this is my first trip back to the school after 32 years and also it was raining very heavily all the way back to Sg.Siput. My plans of bringing to Ipoh for curry mee breakfast has to be cancelled as I was running a bit late due to the rain and accidents along the way. Arrived and heard Barry got into an accident so he can’t make it. Luckily he was alone else a lot of explanation to do coz he says he was really driving very, very slowly. U guys believe him?????

But all the apprehension just disappear the moment I set foot into the school (took a wrong turning and landed in the primary side). It was like going back to school like the good old days. I strongly urged those who have not returned back to our good old school since Form 5 to do so as soon as possible. You will definitely emerged from the school with proud feelings like you have actually accomplished a lot since then. Doesn’t matter if you did make it big time in business or in life or you are still the good old happy person trying to make end meets. The accomplishment comes in various forms like having a successful marriage with wonderful kids, work and life contentment even though not married or married without kids or even married but divorce (so what!!!!!!!!!) but happy with life now, having successful business or making just enough but happy. What I am saying is that coming out of the old school is akin to feeling you have done a lot in life, doesn’t matter what, you have travelled a path of happiness and sadness in various degrees. The path travelled is what we all should cherished.

For those who are interested to hear a little bit of our trip, I would elaborate a bit more. We started with the secondary side and Lee Hah, the headmaster was very eager to bring us around with his assistants. The poor old library is being converted into teacher’s room and two classes of 4 sci 1 and 2. The kids were just like us gossiping among themselves as to who this rombongan is. And mind you, the kids greeted us as we enter each classes. Makes us feel “important”, ha..ha… Our old classrooms are cleaned but the furnitures are really pathetic. Tables in all sort of sizes and height coz the headmaster has to “reclaim” them from other govt school who has the funds for replacement. Although they changed the white board (which we donated previously), it has started to turn yellowish and the wood frame is very old and need a coat of varnish. Tasan, Tom See, Yen Kieong, Sammidass were all happily taking photos of our old classrooms and the place we used to sit.

One of the sad place are the science labs. The place is definitely not really condusive for learning with the dull surronding and old & darppy interiors. Firstly, it needs a new coat of paint and those old posters or apparatus need to be upgraded or replace. These places used to be our laughter ground, be it physics, biology or chemistry classes. The industrial arts class looks ok but a bit old and I will leave Tasan or Tom to comment on this coz I am in no position to. The Home Science class is still neat without much changes. I still remember my bench at the far end corner of the class. This place brings back memories of burnt cookies, rice etc.

The old canteen is still the same except a bit run down. There still have the same old bench where we used to sit. Yen Kieong crack an old joke of how he makes Yoke Yun and Kooi Choong to choke on their drinks due to his “sting bomb” underneath the leg of the bench.

Then we venture to the primary side of the school. It actually looks better than the secondary side. Looks like they have more funds from the government. The headmaster was kind enough to show us around the school. One thing that really caught our eyes are the innocent eyes of the young kids who are the future of our country. They are really a picture of 1Malaysia. The urban city do not know how to value this.

Back to the secondary school, the Form 5 students were having trial exam. Remind us how we were shaking during those times. Hope the kids will do well for their exam.

I would like to inform everyone that we have donated our RM9340 to the school together with Yen Kieong RM1000. Tasan too gave another RM1000 to the headmaster yesterday as well and my hubby and me donated the grided white board. Heard from Tasan today that Mazlan is going to do his part this week. The class of 1972 has also donated 400 tables yesterday so the school have enough tables now. Lee Hah has informed us that Khor Lee Cheng and her brother has also donated RM1400 to the school recently. Bravo.
Lee Hah will provide us a write up on the school for the 80 anniversary celebration and what is the next urgent requirement of the school. We will then post them up in our blog and hope our classmates will be good “tv and radio” machine to spread the news to other years.

It’s been a long time since I write such a long note and hopefully, you guys don’t find it boring. So, make it a point to visit the school and October 25th 2009 will be a good day for another of our reunion. See you then.

I have post up the photos as well. Wonder it is ok?

Was back in SS yesterday for a quick do.. Since it was a long holiday and was expecting every one is getting out of Malaysia due to H1N1 might be a good idea to take a drive back to hometown.. surprisingly was a smooth drive and did not take long to get back.. BUT to the KL folks BEWARE… beware of the Jelapang highway twist.. Imemdiately after the south IPOH toll keep left to get into the Ipoh Jelapang diversion. There is NO exit into Jalan Kuala Kangsar until you cross the tunnel and sg Perak till you get out at Kuala Kangsar toll and you have to come back from KK. (Koh Tsu koon driver made the same mistake – Think he is still around ) . So those getting off the NS highway to go to Sungei Siput had better get out at left exit after Ipoh south toll. By the way the exit is about two km from the turn off into Ipoh. and another 9 km to exit at Jelapang Meru Exit.

For those going to Putri’s puteri wedding reception from KL you should exit at Simpang Pulai latest or else you would have over shot.

Back to Sungei Siput… had a good constituency tour by our YB of the town. Non other than YB Tasan Singh … brought me to all the nooks and corners of the town that only lawyers going after thier payment would dare venture into.. I must say he now know SS better than me..at least if not than everyone.. I bet he knows it better than the actual YB. so you guys know who is your best hosts in town.. He knows the best coffee, coffee, tea…or mee and shiu yok! I dare profess i have not ever seen a que that long for this delicacy anywhere any time in Malaysia . It must be the best darn Shiu Yok in Malaysia… The whole coffee shop is fill will people with just a cup of coffee and a splatter of teh delicacy infront of them sputtered with soya sauce.. I did not manage to garner my guts to que for it but because of Tasan’s connection in town , we got Aik Hooi’s brother to do the dirty job for us.. Got us almost half of kilo of them chunky meat ..I cant complain but I think it is the atmosphere of queing and anticipation that makes it extra special…and probably the price too. For the portion of four of us . it was served like there was a party of ten..Mind you we are in the midst of the hungry ghost festival. But I think the price was a fraction of what you would pay in KL. Good stuff though…. Maybe it is good reason enough to retire peacefully in SS? Tasan want some biking company ?

We went to the ‘tapak’ of the school where we were in primary one to five.. The big tree is still standing there .. but why I said tapak… is because it is what is left of it… just the base cement.. no stilts , no walls , no plank , no roof .. plain old cement in cracking under the plain sunny skies. The church is still in an admirable condition .. and mind you the view from there to the hills and beyond is fantastic ..never got a view of that before.. suddenly felt like I was in Hirschorn on the banks of the Rhine close to Baden Baden .. ( Minus the weather)

These little jewels of our beloved town still lies unearth … Hopefully it is kept that way for the future generations to come ..

There has been lots of changes but because everytime I get back it was more or less time to spend with the family and food and celebrations that it just passed off me what may have changed in the town.. reflections reflections ! I would really encourage you guys to do some of this .. it is really a good feeling knowing what has changed and what has not in the place you you came from .

Well tomorrow is Merdeka Day! And it is a long holiday .. Would like to take this opportunity to wish all my friends and friends to be a very very very united National Day… In the midst of the impending uncertain scenario , I would wish for a very harmonious and peaceful society for our future generations and let them know how well thier parents got together regardless of race, religion and beliefs. This is one thing that I believe the present matured society has to retract and go back to the basics to educate thier very own siblings on the vital importance of freedom and unity.. I think many has lost this in the incessant pursuit of the material world. But again it is this pursuit that is NOW in front of our eyes as we term them as ‘Progress” .. but lacking is the same clean spirit that many today have forgotten to instill into thier young ones.. Many of the true virtues have been taken for granted .. many of the profusing sweat from the hill climbings have been forsaken for the high and mighty computer … Not knowing how to sweat is not a substitute for learning how to build your character from reading the contents in the airwaves.. It is time to bring them home . Home to Sungei Siput …
See you guys back soon…

Regards

Had a hearty lunch with Mun Foo, Sea Ping, Aik Hooi, Soo Har,Wai Fong, Chok Thin, Wata Li, Amy, and Sea Ping’s princess at Overseas restaurant in Jaya 1.

Shared the copies of printed photos taken during the reunion party. Realised we started to talk about new stories … not as much as stories of the reunion but more of the times as a kid in MSS. Two did not turn up … Chee Wai and Rose…. Wonder if this could be coincidental.. Wai Fong had initially thought of a lunch for two not expecting a table full.. anyway we both decided to tag along with the group.. as we wanted to get the coveted CDs from SP and the tickets for the performance. Was a good lunch and a hearty laugh all round when we talked about the good old days..

The CDs for Leong Lai Chan, Lau Wai Ling, Koh Poh Lin, Cheong Kay Keng, Khor Lee Cheng and Chung Yoke Yee are with me.. will send KayKeng the CD to Kuching …. think will meet up with The rest in the performance dinner next week . if not I am not able to make it , i will pass the lot to Lai Chan…

Still no takers on who will be making the trip back to MSS on Tuesday next week. Please let us know if any of you are able to make it … see you guys in the school at 10 am … have a small chat with the head master .. and then head off for a quick lunch…

I think lunches like these are indeed great … to talk and chat up ….. So Tom, please have your Ah Xian start food trail …I think you will have Tasan and a few from KL coming down… anyone interested to go please call… will try to arrange …the car pool..

Barry

Hello,,

The title seems appropriate I thought as it seems to be the exact vibrations I have in me with regards to this pet blogsite. I have been away for about a week and was not able to access to this blogsite as it was blocked in that country. But it did take a while for me to catch up with the happenings and glad to see so much activities all lined up ..
Just before I took off I had posted the events that could happen in the near future that we could all be part of.. And I am especially glad to know of the coming event at the school… on October 25th, 2009. And most certainly we hope to have another bash for the classmates of 1977 to get together. This time at the scene of the crime… The school…! Would need some time to figure out how we can be an active part of this and if need be we will need some local help to make this another success for the school. Maybe we can have a chat with the school board and headmaster during the coming visit to the school next Monday morning in order to have a better feel on what can be done .So those who are interested to pop in please please do so… I know it is the holy month of Ramadhan and would be great to wrap up all these before the sun hits twelve noon. Would love to have some particiation from our Malay friends out there. As for arrangements of rides and timing , we will gather at the school by 10am? ( Tasan let me know if this is too late or if it is not appropriate with the school ) . You all now have the numbers of all your friends from the album and I am sure it would be better for all to post who will be attending and driving from KL or Ipoh to car pool. ( I think See Yoke Keong did NOT arrange a bus to pick us all up from One World for this trip! … But Lunch for those elligible is on him! … at least he is a self professed foodaholic!) .

I also noticed som activities getting on with face book and Net log and ……. This is getting confusing for an old man like me .. i think I prefer sticking to the snail mails like the good old days.. the waiting part of the mail and the postman makes the message all so much sweeter. Anyway the idea is to KEEP inTOUCH>.
I just received a sms from a dear dear friend … staying close to me when I on my way back … after a long day .. My heart raced when I saw the sms while driving as i saw her name… After 23 days she decided to sms me… I wasnt even hoping for a call. Just a simple ..Hi! on a sms will do … i am a simple person… sentimental of sorts …. ! Couldnt wait to see the entire sms .. so I flip the next page with my diligent thumb.. Hoping I will get an invitation for an drink and a chat to catch up…
Screeech! The smell of burning tyres caught up after my car came to a grinding halt…. Dis believed that I got the THIS sms I grab myold faithfull myopic glasses … and Darn… i was right… She JUST SENT THREE words! after 23 days!
My heart fell to the bottom of my feet seated next to the accelerator! What is wrong with the world today .. IS the IT era that inefficient ? How could this happen to me ! .. Why me? Why Her ?
Aiyoo… She sent these three words….. to open my eyes? To close my raging passion ? to douse my burning fire? But it certainly did none of those above… All it did was … Aiyah ! Life is like that … 命中有时终须有,命中无时莫强求。(Translated … que sera sera what ever will be …will be …. And the story goes on ! )
Lost in Tasan’s Jungle? The lady sent ME the following sms….
HI! SOO HA!
Urrg! wrong lumber la… then she repented saying it was her LFF problem. ( Low Far Factor– old sight problem .. which was lame la.. )
SOO HAR and TIONG SOON are spelt like CHina and Timbucktoo.. apart.. But I had to accept her version of the mistake… lamely … But I guess the lesson learnt is that the reunion certainly sparked off quite a cross fire between all the classmates .. and it IS CERTAINLY a great THING to happen for all of us at this time … KEEP up the comms line and enjoy each other company… reach out your helping hand and consoling arms. Those without the opportunity can offer your irreplaceable wit and humor … those with the serious face off version can chip in too … there are certainly some serious faces out there too..

DONT ASK ME WHO SENT ME THAT SMS >>>>> I promise you I will NOT tell.

Enjoy…

Halo, Halo, Halo,

Just delivered DVDs to Tom See and Tasan today. Thanks Tom for the lunch so anyone who wants to have FREE lunch, go to Eon Bank in Green Town Ipoh. Very good delicious Curry Fish Head. Tom, I will be back for more.

Next venue Tasan’s office. This “Green” Lawyer office has both his toilets covered by many green plants like going thro’ jungle to look for the loo. And guess what you find in his toilet????????????? A clock!!!!!!!! You see the seconds hand moving “tick, tick, tick” so beware; lawyer charge you every seconds including time spend in the loo and being the fair lawyer, you know how much time you spend there. Ha..ha..Ha…..

I spend quite some in Tasan’s office and goodness, he has got a young and beautiful wife. Tasan, my hubby asks if she is one of your students??????? Had a very good discussion with Tasan and have this to report to everyone. Attached pls find the final accounts of our collection. We have Rm 9379.03 in the coffers.

Tasan attended the BOG meeting today in the school. There is a list of important things that is required by the students. One of it are the tables which are really in bad condition; just like what we saw in the presentations during the dinner. The school need to replace 700 tables and one of the ex-student has offered to sell them at a special price of RM76 each. These tables are not easily scratchable so can last longer (not like those that we carve our names with all the cupid arrows). The BOG has purchased 150 pieces that need to be replaced badly so balance is 550 pieces. We have decided to use our RM9379.03 plus another RM1000 donated by Low Yen Kieong to purchase 136 tables for the student. We will try to see if we can put a small plague at the table stating “MSS1977″.

The school also need 16 grided white boards for teaching maths and geography which cost RM350 each. I have decided to donate this to the students, part of my social responsibilty to my alma mater. Don’t despair. Ha..ha.. You guys and gals are needed to do your fair bit for the school. Before I elaborate further on what is needed, let me share with you a very good samaritarian among us. He is non other than our Lord of the Jungle, Tasan who holds the law of the jungle degree as well as London Law degree. Every year when school term starts, students from Methodist who cannot afford to pay their fees or uniform, will go to his office to ask for aids. (The lady selling clothes below his office tells us about his good deeds) He will also help poor students to buy workbooks to improve their studies. Kudos to you, Tasan. I am proud we were classmates and friends.

So now, the interesting event. The school will be celebrating her 80th anniversary on 25th October 2009. The event will start from 11am to 3pm, with lunch/tea provided. The BOG has decided to take from their coffers to cover for lunch+tea which amounts to about RM15 per person. The BOG is expecting about 200-250 old students to attend this event so estimated cost will about RM3000 plus. This will be a very good opportunity for us to visit our school and our old classrooms to rekindle good old memories. The school would like to raise funds during this event so get ready to HELP our old school. This is a good chance for us to do our part for the school who have mold us to what we are today. There is so many things that is needed such as awnings to keep away rains instead of windows(more expensive) at the exam hall, new coat of paint, toilets and many other things such as a new building block of classrooms.

The class of 76, 72, 78 and others are now starting to gather their classmates to chip in for the future of the school such as tables. I believe, if all the students irrespective of their age and positions were to contribute their part, big or small, the school will definitely find back the glory it use to posses. So buddies, let’s start to spread the news around, to our commrades, our seniors and our juniors about this GREAT and BENEFICIAL event on 25TH OCTOBER 2009. We get to meet more SCHOOLMATES AND CLASSMATES so put a BIG MARK IN YOUR DIARY, OK??????????????

Cheers.

ACTUAL AUSTRALIAN COURT DOCKET 12659
—CASE OF THE PREGNANT LADY—

A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus.
She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her.
She immediately moved to another seat.
This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again.
The man seemed more amused.
When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing,
she complained to the driver and he had the man arrested.

The case came up in court.

The judge asked the man (about 20 years old)
what he had to say for himself.

The man replied, ‘Well your Honor, it was like this:
when the lady got on the bus, I couldn’t help but notice her
condition. She sat down under a sign that said,
‘The Double Mint Twins are coming’ and I grinned.

Then she moved and sat under a sign that said,
‘Logan’s Liniment will reduce the swelling,’ and I had to smile.

Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said,
‘William’s Big Stick Did the Trick,’ and I could hardly contain
myself.

But, Your Honor, when she moved the fourth time
and sat under a sign that said,
‘Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident!’
… I just lost it.’

‘CASE DISMISSED!!’
